scope: four letters, four posters, website
»cheek2cheek« is a half letter and a half web project on the theme of »long-distance intimate communication«.
As motif the project uses four types of dove or pigeon: the wood pigeon, the stock dove, the turtle dove and the rock dove. These species have characteristic cooing sounds, which the project equates with four different languages: English, French, German and Dutch.
Four SMS poems composed in these languages and their corresponding cooing rhythms form the central elements of four airmail letters, which are folded to fit into a kind of envelope package.
»cheek2cheek« is about intimacy and distance, about the air between you and me, about the pair of lovers within oneself and the desire for touch in virtual communication.
